At the intersection of 向上北路 and 向上北路224巷 , there are two vendors that have some of the lowest prices in the area for fruits and vegetables. The fruit vendor is on Xianshang Bei Road to the left of the entrance of the covered market area, and the vegetable vendor is about

You may see hand written signs that say things like 4把50元or 4顆100元 which means how many of something you get for how much money. 專賣澎湖空運海產 On Lane 224 inside the covered area of the market, there is a small seafood vendor. This vendor has a white sign with blue and red writing on it.
Gradually, “Feng-Tzu cakes” have become the most beloved mooncakes for people from Taitung. He has since expanded the market, developed new products, and held DIY activities, which successfully spread Fu He Cheng Pastry’s name far and wide. When the baton was passed to Hung’s parents, the pastry added other traditional Taiwanese food to its menus, such as Hakka rice cake and Turtle-shaped red rice cake, as his mother is Hakka. Whilst it can’t really compare with Taiwan, we loved our day wandering around Taichung and wouldn’t hesitate to visit again. He painted brightly coloured rainbow designs and patterns on the walls, floors and buildings that remained, and it soon became a popular attraction for locals. As its reputation spread tourists also began to visit and eventually it was agreed that the area would be preserved and turned into a cultural heritage site. Huang Yung-Fu is now 95 years old and still painting! You can even get the chance to meet him when you visit, and be sure to buy a few bits from the souvenir shop.
Mr Huang, or Grandpa as he is known, is the man behind Rainbow Village. Mr Huang fought in the Republic of China army and fled to Taiwan in the 1940s when he was housed in the village. Now aged 96, he still resides in the village today and continues with his painting.
Chicken Feet Aspic is one of those famous traditional souvenirs in Taichung as well as superb gourmet snacking well reported by the media. Farms which produce taros there are over 3,879,000 square meters in area. With soft and chewy texture, taros from Dajia can be made into beverages, frozen foods, the raw materials for hotpot, etc.

Chihshang,Guanshan and Luye are famous for growing rice of excellent quality. Due to the low industrial pollution,significant temperature difference in the morning and evening,and heavy clay soil,the Rift Valley Rice has perfect texture and great aroma. This is one of the best souvenirs when visiting the East Rift Valley.

The first market in Taichū was built in 1908 along JiGuang Road between ZhongZheng and ChengGong Roads. It is still used today, and is a popular spot to purchase food and other items in downtown Taichung. Taichung Middle School was founded in 1913 by Lin Hsien-tang and his brother Lin Lie-tang, two wealthy Taiwanese intellectuals of the era. This was done in an effort to teach children the traditional culture of Taiwan and to foster a sense of local pride.
蔡紅豆餅 is on Heping St right at the market entrance. It has a purple sign with yellow letters and red letters that say蔡紅豆餅 . It has a white sign with red and blue letters with the name of the shop on it. You can also buy a gift box and choose what you want to put in it. It has a yellow sign with dark red letters and has been in business for many years.
